COLOR CHANGE MAGIC
It's magic! Seriously, it's the magic of Del Sol's proprietary Spectrachrome® Technology, which harnesses the power of the sun through what our chemists call a molecular excitation transition. In simpler terms, it means that Spectrachrome crystals reveal their hidden colors when exposed to sunlight. NASA explored color-change technology for its space program, specifically for the transitional lenses on their astronauts’ space helmets, and Del Sol enhanced it for everyone under the sun! It's not rocket science, but then again, maybe it is.
WHY IT'S AMAZING!
Every time the sunshine touches your "whatever-you-took-home" from Del Sol, you'll feel like a million bucks as the party entertainer or the walking conversation piece. You'll only hear whistles and cheers as you demonstrate the coolest show 'n tell gift ever; and most importantly, you'll always be reminded of that incredible vacation under the sun when Del Sol first created fun, joy, smiles and memories for you.
Del Sol has since grown to be recognized as the leader in the industry for color-changing, retail-specialty products, and the only worldwide producer of Spectrachrome® crystal dyes. Our product line features the brightest and most vibrant colors of the rainbow. Simply add the sun's ultraviolet rays to our products and watch the Spectrachrome® colors magically appear!
WHAT ARE THE CRYSTALS MADE OF?
The Spectrachrome® crystal is chemically engineered of hypoallergenic materials.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Spectrachrome® crystal reveals color upon irradiation by ultraviolet
waves; i.e., sunlight. When a flower blooms, the result is the exposure of
the inherent color of the flower. A Spectrachrome® crystal is similar in that an
energy-shift occurs causing the color of the dye to become visible
to the human eye. The shifting or "twisting" of the dye is referred to as
a molecular excitation transition. The dye does not actually "change"
color; rather, it becomes visible to the human eye. Research shows
that some animals; e.g., certain species of bats, can actually see the
color of a Spectrachrome® crystal in its inactive state.
WHAT WAVELENGTH CAUSES THE REACTION?
Although each Spectrachrome® crystal operates at a slightly different
wavelength, the optimal wavelength is 365 nanometers.
DOES THE MOLECULE BECOME LARGER WHEN IT IS IRRADIATED?
No, however it does take on a physical change.
HOW MANY COLORS ARE THERE?
Del Sol products feature the brightest and most vibrant colors within a color palette of
more than 300 color varieties. Since 1994, Del Sol’s panel of chemists from around
the world have tested more than 6,000 color-changing product variations,
which naturally fuels our ongoing research and development efforts for even more
color-changing creations to come.
