Spreading Sunshine & Cheer at Spectrum Academy Race for Autism Research

Del Sol was a proud sponsor and donor this past week to Spectrum Academy’s annual 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, 5K and/or 10K, all of which supported further education of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The races were all-ages events that started and ended at the school in North Salt Lake City, Utah.

For the second year now, Del Sol was able to donate hundreds of color-changing bags to the runners and product giveaways for race winners.

Winners also took home a Thanksgiving turkey! Spectrum Academy definitely emphasized the ‘FUN’ in the 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk by encouraging participants to race by whatever means of locomotion they chose, including running, walking, biking, skating, scooting, etc. A prize went to the most creative contestant.

Thanks to all the sponsors and individual fundraisers, Spectrum was able to surpass its $20,000 fundraising goal.

“What an amazing turn out for our 5th annual Turkey Trot! We want to say thank you to everyone who came and supported Spectrum Academy! The Turkey Trot is a fundraiser that is planned and organized by full-time working parents, not the school. The hours dedicated to creating this event are countless, and it took over 100 volunteers to pull off this amazing event. If you were lucky enough to be one of the almost 1,000 participants, you saw first hand the support we had from the community, school, friends and families. If you helped by donating, racing, sponsoring, volunteering, and/or supporting those who did, you can feel proud knowing that you have made a difference in the lives of the Spectrum Academy students. Thank you from the Turkey Trot Planning Committee!” – Debbie Eckert, Marie Seoane, Sarah Sargent, Jim Moffett, and Janel Cottle
